Last night’s debate in the Lords may – for once – fully justify the plaudits we get from the fan club for “wise, eloquent and dispassionate” discussion, contrasting with the hurly-burly at the Commons end of the building.

Tyler appointed to Privy Council 40 years after first election to represent Cornwall

North Cornwall’s MP, Dan Rogerson, has congratulated his predecessor Lord Tyler on his appointment to the Privy Council.  The appointment is usually connected to a Ministerial career but is exceptionally awarded to those with a long commitment to parliamentary service.
